Sit Low (Finn Hall)
For a more accurate feel, I really need to stop visiting newly opened restaurants and give them a few weeks to acclimate before visiting. However, a show at the nearby Toyota Center enticed me to visit Finn Hall the first week of it’s opening. The layout is incredible with enough floor space among the different offerings to be comfortable and not overly crowded. I was hoping for Korean, but at 6:15PM, Yong already ran out of food and had closed early. My next place of choice was Sit Lo where I was hoping to try their Oxtail Pho (Pho Bo). That unfortunately also sold out and I had to settle…

Kau Ba Saigon Kitchen & Bar
I was happy to learn the Chef would open a restaurant in Houston after watching Episode 4 of Netflix’s Ugly Delicious. She spoke with so much conviction about Viejun food that my taste buds were excited to try something new. A part of me was also giddy with the prospect of the Chef possibly offering Bun Bo Hue on their menu in the near future. Despite going on a Saturday at noon, the restaurant was fairly empty with only 3 to 4 other groups dining at the same time. I sat at the bar and the bartender who served me was incredibly friendly and attentive. As much as I wanted…

B&T Cafe
Kept seeing posts of this place in my Instagram feed and decided to pay them a visit. I haven’t had a good banh mi for lunch since Les Bagets changed concepts at their Montrose location. I’m not a fan of Les Girvals or Oui Banh Mi and Roostar is too far of a drive for lunch, so I was hopeful that this place might be the replacement sandwich place I needed. The place is family owned and everyone was diligently working to quickly make drinks and sandwiches for the customers. Everything was fresh and my favorite part of the meal was the softness of the bread. Nothing irritates me more…

Les Noo’dle
While the restaurant soft opened over a month ago, Les Noo’dle (the re-branded Les Bagets) officially opened today. In celebration of it’s grand opening, they showcased the Pho Royale — a giant cauldron of pho filled with various meats and capable of feeding a family of 3. Those who follow me on Instagram know how much I love the broth here and am constantly singing it’s praises. I especially appreciate that they don’t skimp on their protein and actually use quality meats. While I am sadden that I can no longer order the vermicelli salad bowls or banh mi’s at this location, the added chicken and vegan options are a…

Lua Viet Kitchen
I was on my way to Good Dog Houston for lunch when I spotted Lua Viet Kitchen opened for business. Never one to pass on trying a new Asian restaurant in the area, I turned around and opted for lunch here instead. There was a soft opening sign on the door and a small group of people already inside the restaurant. Instead of paper menus, there was an electronic screen on the wall listing their available menu items. Any first time visit to a new restaurant usually entails an order of a staple food so I can compare it to what I’ve had at other restaurants. I ordered a Beef…
