About

As a lifelong Houston resident, I’ve had the chance to watch the city’s food scene evolve into one of the most exciting and diverse in the country.
I originally began documenting my food adventures, along with the occasional review, on Tumblr before eventually transitioning to Instagram, which quickly became my preferred platform. What started as a mix of food, concerts, photography, and random adventures around the city gradually evolved into a space focused primarily on Houston’s dining scene.
Working in academia, I’m constantly surrounded by students who are away from home for the first time and searching for good meals, hidden gems, or affordable places that remind them of home. Combined with friends and coworkers regularly asking me where to eat, my account naturally became a running reference guide for food recommendations — usually delivered with the trademark sarcasm and humor I was known for.
Like many people, the pandemic shifted my perspective. After witnessing firsthand what the hospitality industry endured, I no longer felt comfortable approaching restaurant commentary with the same sarcastic tone I once used. The reviews stopped, and I found myself focusing more on documenting the experiences rather than critiquing them.
I briefly experimented with collaborations and sponsored experiences, but ultimately realized they no longer aligned with why I started documenting food in the first place. I never wanted this platform to feel transactional or for my opinions to be influenced by free meals or partnerships.
So this is a return to what I enjoy most: exploring Houston’s dining scene out of genuine curiosity and sharing places I personally find worth visiting. I have a full-time career outside of food blogging, and this site simply serves as a way to connect with the Houston community while highlighting restaurants that might otherwise go unnoticed.
