Burgers aren’t usually something I actively seek out, but when I do indulge, certain expectations have to be met like a soft bun, a flavorful patty, and decent side options. What I experienced today was barely passable as a burger. The patty was cooked to the point to where I could probably have sanded down woodwork with it. On top of that, the meat was flavorless — the only thing I COULD taste was the swiss cheese and avocado. It was like some oxymoronic attempt at being healthier by omitting all the salt and oils. I’ve been dying to try this place out ever since I heard about the opening, but with Katy being quite the trek, I opted to wait for some of the hoopla to die down to avoid the lines as well as for an opportunity to actually be in the area. I arrived around 1PM to find only 2 other diners inside and the 2 later groups of people who arrived after me, primarily ordering take out requests. I’ve been on a Thai kick lately and wanted to check out a new restaurant near work. I was never a fan of Blue Fish, but was interested in checking out the Thai restaurant that took up residence at it’s old spot. Knowing that parking limit in this particular area, I left early to avoid any potential parking issues. I love basil and would have normally ordered the Pad Kee Mao, but several of the Yelp reviews rated it badly, so I opted for Pad See Ew instead.
